  • SURVEY LAST CHANCE: We've worked to keep our finger on the pulse of your company since the situation with COVID-19 began. In order to collect information on recovery, your Chamber has released a new survey so we can best communicate the severity of this crisis’ impact on your ability to re-open.   • THE FED’S BALANCE SHEET HAS REACHED A RECORD HIGH: The Federal Reserve has been active in its response to the economic fallout from COVID-19. It has enormously increased liquidity in the financial markets. These actions have just about doubled the size of the Fed’s balance sheet. Click here for more.

  • AN UPDATE FROM WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS OF WEST TEXAS: Unemployment claims slowed this past week, adding a little over 700 from the prior week, down from an average increase of 1,500 per week. Almost 4,300 employers in the region have been impacted by COVID-19 due to layoffs, reductions in hours, temporary or permanent closings. Click here for more.

  • USDA ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF DIRECT ASSISTANCE TO FARMERS THROUGH THE CORONAVIRUS FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced details of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), which will provide up to $16 billion in direct payments to deliver relief to America’s farmers and ranchers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to this direct support to farmers and ranchers, USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program is partnering with regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by the closure of many restaurants, hotels, and other food service entities, to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need.
